2020 - Sister Agnes Benefacta – or the Authentic Air of Hell, a song for soprano/mezzo soprano and piano, duration c. five minutes duration. It appears in manuscript form in Bauld’s novel, ‘DIVIDED’ and is dedicated to the soprano, Jane Manning, who is as lively and optimistic a person as the character of this monologue is not. 

2006 – No More of Love , published in the novel, Mozart’s Sister, a song for soprano/mezzo soprano and piano, conceived in a twentieth century pastiche of the eighteenth century at the time of Nannerl Mozart - three minutes duration. 

2006 – Mozart’s Sister, a music theatre work for soprano, female narrator, duo pianists, duration one hour and fifteen minutes. It tells the story of Nannerl Mozart in dramatic scenes as unfolded in her imagined diary. First performed at Australia House for the Tait Memorial Trust. 2003 – Please Put A Penny in the Old Man’s Hat, (text anon.) an unaccompanied round in three parts for young children’s voices, c. three minutes duration, pub. Score available from Gonzaga Music.

2000 – Pluto, a dramatic scena for soprano, female chorus in three parts, instruments the same as those for Gustav Holst’s The Planets: oboe/cor anglais, clarinet/bass clarinet, bassoon/contra bassoon, trumpet in C, string quartet plus double bass, percussion – duration c. 35 minutes. (Commissioned by and performed at the Spitalfields Festival to celebrate the millennium). 

1998 – Good Friday, Belfast 1998 for two-part choir and piano, text anon, duration c. four minutes. Commissioned by Mary Denniss for Highcliffe Junior Choir, May 1998.

1997 – Exult! For two-part choir and piano, text from the bible, duration c. four minutes.

1992 – Play Your Way, Three Volumes. Piano tutor in three volumes.

1989 – My Own Island, a fantasy for clarinet in B Flat and piano, duration c. ten minutes.

1987 – Nell a chamber opera, soloists, chorus and chamber orchestra, duration c. one hour, commissioned and performed by Midsummer Opera at the Donmar Warehouse in 1987. Text and music by Alison Bauld in two acts. The setting is inland Australia. In order to escape her family’s wretched subsistence on barren land, their daughter Nell has a child by a visiting stranger and sees the world differently thereafter: when he suggests they escape together, she declines.

1986 – Once Upon a Time (A children’s Cantata) for chamber orchestra, choir and soloists, text from bible with additional text from the composer. Story: Each year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover. Luke records that when Jesus was twelve, Mary and Joseph took him with them on their pilgrimage and on returning home, discovered Jesus had remained in Jerusalem without their knowledge. Duration c. thirty minutes. Commissioned and first broadcast on Radio 3 in 1986. This featured the Choir of Colet Court School (choirmaster Ian Hunter), Nicholas Thompson (trumpet), Orchestra of St John’s Smith Square (Leader Rosemary Furniss, conducted by John Lubbock). The extract below is taken from the end of the Cantata when Jesus is found in the temple and returns home with his mother and the other pilgrims.

1985 - Monody, is a solo piece for flute, duration c. five minutes.

1978 - The Busker’s Story, a music theatre piece for alto-saxophone, bassoon, trumpet in C, violin, double bass.

1977 – I Loved Miss Watson, chamber work for voices and small ensemble of variable instruments, duration c. twelve minutes. Performed by Jane Manning and her Minstrels.

1976 – Van Diemen’s Land or SATB chorus and STB soloists, duration c. twenty-five minutes, a BBC Radio 3 commission that was recorded in quadraphonic sound and was the first broadcast of this format.

1974 - Exiles for string quartet, percussion, narrator and chorus – duration c. 30 minutes.

1973 – On the Afternoon of the Pigsty, a dramatic scena for speaker, alto-melodica and piano, duration c. six minutes.

1972 - Dear Emily, for soprano and harp/piano – duration c. four minutes, a song conceived in letter form, its writer, an eighteenth century figure reflecting wryly on her supposed love life. 

1971 – Humpty Dumpty for tenor, flute and guitar, duration c. six minutes, the surreal story of an egg.
